Safe and Positive Feeding Advancement for the Newborn with Cleft Palate +/-Lip

Newborns with cleft lip/palate present with unique feeding needs. Proper clinical management of their early feedings establishes a foundation for safe and positive feeding experiences. This course will review the unique swallow patterns demonstrated by newborns with cleft lip/palate, glucose management strategies, optimal positioning/handling, provision of breast milk, and bottle selection.
