Confabulation

Confabulation is related to memory impairment and can be present when a person has damage to the frontal lobe of their brain. A person may distort, fabricate, or misinterpret information to “fill the gaps” of knowledge they cannot recall. This handout provides further education about confabulation symptoms and what to do when a person presents with confabulation.

This task provides a real-world scenario where patients are given 6 voicemail tasks with various information (e.g., the veterinarian calling with information on when to pick up pet meds or a friend calling to set up a time for dinner together). Navigating Menus and Calculating Costs

Clients are challenged to calculate different costs for food items, calculate if a few pints of beer is more expensive than a pitcher, or, for an added bonus, convert prices from a New Zealand menu into U.S. dollars. Following Multi-Step Directions Using the Visualization Strategy

8 sets of multi-step directions spanning in difficulty from 1-step to 4-step to before/after instructions. These tasks are designed to be able to be completed with supplies you find in a therapy gym; they are designed to be completed with the use of one arm/hand. The task includes instructions on how to use a visualization strategy to improve carry-over to functional tasks.

Finding Medication Box Errors Set #1

For this activity, the patient will need to read the directions for each medication to know how often it should be taken. Then they will need to notice errors with the medication box which requires good attention and visual reasoning. This task could also be used for a visual scanning activity. Calculating Tips at a Restaurant
