SLP Collaboration in G-tube Weaning and Oral Feeding Initiation
Many children depend on g-tube feeding for nutrition, hydration, and medication. The weaning process varies across individuals. However, there are some common steps in the role played by speech-language pathologists involved in the weaning process in the hospital, home and academic setting. This handout may serve as a guideline for clinicians and families who are seeking an enhanced understanding of the role of the speech-language pathologist, or the steps involved in pediatric g-tube weaning.
