Motivational Interviewing for Physical Therapists
This handout is designed for physical therapists working with patients address goals with the use of a motivational interviewing approach. Motivational interviewing (MI) is an evidence based, patient-centered goal approach where the physical therapist (PT) and patient communicate collaboratively to address common problems of ambivalence (positive and negative feelings) about changes. This handout provides four steps to help guide physical therapists when using this approach as part of their treatment plan.
