Bio: Megan has been an SLP with a passion for both geriatrics and early intervention for over ten years; most recently, making outpatient rehab house calls within ALFs and in private homes as well as keeping a per diem job with a home care provider. This past summer, Megan began her own private practice. Connecting with patients and their families as well as seeking relevant and personalized treatments is the key to success. Megan has been known to organize themed collaborative treatment sessions throughout the year, no ideas are too crazy! Current primary professional role: I am an SLP who primarily works in outpatient rehabilitation home visits for geriatrics (for the past 8 years), home care per diem (8 years), primarily pediatric private practice (8 years), and owner of private practice (as of August 2020) **Currently on sabbatical in Belgium and looking to assist other SLPs navigating the field.

Teaching philosophy: I love collaborating with other SLPs as well as other professionals. I think that it is important to remember that we must look at the “bigger picture” for our patients. While it is important to base our interventions from evidence-based practice, it is equally important to take a step back and identify the most relevant needs of our patients. We need to help challenge each other to be our best therapist. When we know better, we do better. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences gained over the past ten years to build knowledge and confidence for the next generation or for anyone looking to gain knowledge or experience with geriatrics.
