Bio: Shannon received her B.A. in Linguistics from the University of California Los Angeles. She completed her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center at the UT campus in Knoxville. She completed her Clinical Fellowship in private practice in the Los Angeles area, working with a combination of outpatient pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients while also being contracted to work in the school system. In 2017, she transitioned from private practice to acute rehab and is now a full-time SLP at 138 bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. She is a three-time recipient of the ASHA ACE Award and considers herself a lifelong learner.

Areas of Expertise: 1) Dysphagia – MBSImP certified, MDTP certified, Ampcare ESP certified, perform MBSS competency training, well versed in biofeedback modalities 2) AAC with adult users– ATP certified, 3) aphasia – use the LPPA and am well versed in multiple evidenced based treatments for aphasia 4) cognition, 5) inpatient rehabilitation & stroke rehabilitation.

I believe a good mentor listens without judgment, practices honesty, provides thoughtful feedback, and is always in the pursuit of knowledge. I would love to help you meet your professional goals.
