I work with stroke, neurological impairments, brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, comprehensive medical cases, and provide MBS’s in my current setting. Teaching philosophy: I believe that a mentorship begins with trust. This is the foundation for a positive relationship. Together, we will identify your goals and explore all options to help you grow as a clinician. I will share my own experiences and what has worked best for me and for my patients. I will be an active listener, ask questions, and take a personal interest in your career. I will create a safe environment where free exchange of feedback can occur. We will identify your learning style from the start in order to make the best use of our time together. I will become your biggest cheerleader and support system and help guide you through your journey. I have worked in just about every adult setting and know the challenges we are faced with. I have experienced struggles with every job I have had and have done my fair share of “crying in the car” (and bathroom) on too many occassions. I have had to fight to get swallow studies for my patients and have had to learn how to navigate my treatments without one. I know the struggles of working in a SNF when it feels like every other department is against you. I will be able to help you find ways to cope and survive these situations. I know the pressures of productivity and can help you manage your day. If I do not know something, I will do research to find the best answer for you. We will define your expectations, set realistic goals, and monitor your progress. I feel that with my 28 years of experience, I am able to help newer clinicians navigate the broad impairments we treat. I enjoy doing my best clinically for each patient while also having fun. My goal is for you to be a critical thinker, a critical decision maker, and achieve a love of learning.
