Meet Your Presenter

Sara Valli is a seasoned speech-language pathologist and Assistive Technology Specialist. In addition to having worked at The Collaborative for Educational Services for 15 years, she also held the position of a tenured assistive technology faculty member at Santa Rosa Junior College. Currently, she works in New Hampshire as both an SLP and assistive technology specialist in the Fall Mountain Regional School District. Sara has a passion for working with middle and high school students to support language development, critical thinking, executive functioning, curriculum access, and assistive technology. She is passionate about supporting student-led learning and self advocacy to support transition.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. List executive functioning skills needed for academic success.
  2. Explain the importance of self awareness and self advocacy for academic and career success.
  3. Demonstrate student self advocacy for academic and social needs.
  4. Describe effective language embedding, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills.

Instructional Level

Information is geared to practitioners with a general working knowledge of current practice trends and literature related to the subject matter. Focus is on increasing understanding and competent application of the subject matter.
