Meet Your Presenter

Karissa Simon is an OT based in New York, specializing in acute care, short term rehabilitation and outpatient. Johnny Rider writes our OT article snapshots and has practiced in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, acute care, home health and hospice, school-based, and primary care. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Touro University Nevada in the School of Occupational Therapy. Megan Wilkinson is a writer for Therapy Insights. Her primary area of expertise is in specialized post-acute neurorehabilitation, but she has also worked in inpatient rehabilitation, and skilled nursing facilities.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define Kawa Model and how to utilize it with clients.
  2. Describe the causes of overstimulation after brain injury and coping strategies.
  3. Define subacromial trauma and how to prevent it.
  4. Summarize the 6 post-acute care rehabilitation options and describe to clients.
  5. Describe how to use the minimum wage task to address money management and reasoning skills.
