Course description: Newborns with cleft lip/palate present with unique feeding needs. Proper clinical management of their early feedings establishes a foundation for safe and positive feeding experiences. This course will review the unique swallow patterns demonstrated by newborns with cleft lip/palate, glucose management strategies, optimal positioning/handling, provision of breast milk, and bottle selection.

Allyson Goodwyn-Craine began her clinical practice in 1989. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient medical settings including the NICU and Craniofacial Teams. Allyson was the Executive Director of The Children’s Developmental Health Institute recognized in the Top 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For, and ranked in the Top 20 Healthcare Nonprofits in Oregon. Allyson served on the ASHA Financial Planning Board, and as President of the Oregon Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University and an ASHA publications contributor. The Oregon Speech-Language-Hearing Association awarded her with Honors of the Association.

In the highly unlikely event that this commitment is not met, subscribers will receive a 50% refund for that month’s subscription cost. Subscribers who are on an annual payment plan will receive a pro-rated refund for 50% of the cost of that month.
