Course description: Clinical Complexities and Care for the Tracheotomized Patient: Part 2 is designed to dive more deeply into speaking valve utilization, evidence-based research supporting application for swallowing/voice restoration, and troubleshooting difficult placements. In line vent placement and steps towards decannulation will also be reviewed. This companion course will expand base knowledge from Part 1.

Jerome Quellier, MS, CCC-SLP, is a Minnesota licensed speech-language pathologist with 25+ years of hospital-based practice. His expertise includes trach/vent dependence, dysphagia, TBI/stroke and oral-pharyngeal cancer rehab. He currently works at a 500+ bed Level 1 trauma hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota with adults/geriatrics. Mr. Quellier has written curriculum and provided training for hospital staff including nurses/aides and residents on numerous topics. Mr. Quellier is also a highly sought-after national speaker, teaching day courses on tracheotomy/vent dependence and a comprehensive neurology review. He has been on faculty at the UM-Duluth and UW-Eau Claire.

Duration: 1 hour.

Pre-requisites: Participants are recommended to have completed the Clinical Complexities and Care for the Tracheotomized Patient Part 1 course before Part 2.

Target audience: Physical rehabilitation clinicians who work in settings that accept patients with tracheostomies.

      • Quiz needs to be completed within 2 hours of end of course.

      Certificates of completion: Once the exam is completed and you have provided feedback about the course, you will receive an emailed certificate of completion with course title, course instructor name/title, learning objectives, your name, your license number (if desired), and a confirmation from the CE Task Force director confirming completion of course.       For Access Pass subscribers: In the event that a course is canceled or rescheduled, no cash refund will be provided to subscribers of the Access Pass. Therapy Insights will work to reschedule the event, or create a new event within the same month. Therapy Insights guarantees access to one live course per month to all subscribers. In the highly unlikely event that this commitment is not met, subscribers will receive a 50% refund for that month’s subscription cost. Subscribers who are on an annual payment plan will receive a pro-rated refund for 50% of the cost of that month.

      All refunds will be provided within 30 days of time of cancellation.
