Task: Floor Plan Task (Visual processing in 2D and 3D)
This 3-stage therapy task moves from easy to difficult, challenging the ability to perceive two-dimensional and three-dimensional spatial concepts. Designed to address left neglect/hemi-spatial neglect, visuo-spatial processing, calculation, working memory, and sequencing, this task is best suited for speech-language pathologists and other therapists working with people who have survived brain injuries and are in a rehabilitation setting. Includes answer key.
Weekly Memory Log Template
This handout is designed for rehabilitation therapists working with people experiencing short-term memory impairment in rehabilitation settings. This template includes a space for physical, occupational, and speech therapists to write down daily therapy activities, progress, and recommendations. Memory logs help patients improve carry-over and compensate for memory impairments.
Spaced Retrieval Log
This handout is designed for rehabilitation therapists using spaced retrieval training to recall important functional information, such as their phone number, home address, safety precautions, or names of family members.
Responding to Text Messages and Emails
This therapy task is designed for rehabilitation therapists working with patients who are addressing functional language goals of being able to respond to text messages and emails. This basic task provides sample text messages and emails and challenges patients to write responses.
Three Low Vision Visual Attention Tasks for the Right Brain
This resource is designed for rehabilitation therapists working with people who are experiencing low vision and/or visual inattention. The three tasks challenge the patient to attend to both the right and left sides of a page, alternating attention as needed, with all text designed to be appropriate for low-vision patients.
This therapy task is designed for rehabilitation therapists working with adults who are wanting to improve their memory after traumatic brain injury. The worksheet is designed to provide the building blocks necessary to use the mnemonic memory strategy to recall functional lists, such as names, locations, and goals.
Voice Commands to Use with Siri
This handout is designed for rehabilitation therapists working with patients to build independence with voice activated devices using voice commands. The handout provides step-by-step instructions for turning on Siri and how to use "Hey Siri." Also includes 12 specific voice-command scripts for functional tasks.
Verbal Reasoning and Problem Solving Task

Planning and Calculating Cost of a Dinner Party
Designed for patients in rehabilitation settings, this therapy task targets planning, organizing, calculation, and cognitive flexibility. Patients are challenged to calculate the cost of various dinner party food options based on grocery prices and recipes.
Visual Memory Task
This treatment task targets the visual memory recall abilities of your patient. The task challenges patients to recall not only the original placement of a unique image, but its new location within the picture scene according to a set of arrows.
Attention to Detail- a Proofreading Task
This intervention requires an individual to remember the directions, sustain attention to the task, alternate attention, and make judgments during this higher-level cognitive-linguistic task. (11th-grade reading level). The task challenges people to catch typos while also reading the material to answer content questions.
Finding Medication Box Errors
For this activity, the patient will need to read the directions for each medication to know how often it should be taken. Then the patient will need to notice errors with the medication box which requires good attention and visual reasoning. This task could also be used for a visual scanning activity.
Brain Injury Wallet ID Cards
These support cards can be used with communication partners or individuals from the community. They will help explain how a brain injury can affect the brain injury survivor with cognition-communication tasks.
Calculating Miles to Plan a National Parks Road Trip
Finding functional treatment activities can be frustrating and time-consuming for therapists. This functional activity that targets numerical problem solving instructs the person with a brain injury to calculate miles between national parks in the United States in order to determine which road trip to take.
